Hwange woes continue

HARARE - Black Mambas ended their four-match winless streak with a deserved 2-0 win over struggling Hwange in yesterday’s only Castle Premiership match.

Mambas winger Peter Kachirika got a brace in the second half, taking the home team to 28 points from 24 matches and in the process swap places with Hwange, who now occupy 12th place.

The visiting coalminers started the match on a positive note and could have gone to the breather at least three goals to the good, but were outdone by poor finishing.

Evans Rusike and Tawanda Mareya both came close in the first half to draw first blood.

Black Mambas chased shadows for the greater part of the opening period and a 28th minute shot off the target by Last Chibwiro was the closest they could come.

The momentum shifted in the second half when Mambas started to take the game to Hwange.

Mambas were duly rewarded in the 61st minute through Kachirika, who was set up by lively winger Godfrey Mangani to finish off.

Kachirika doubled the lead when he rounded off Hwange goalkeeper Timothy Sibanda on 86 minutes.

He was sent though by Mangani before slotting in a low shot into the empty net.
