Mwaruwari's future still vague

JOHANNESBURG - Former Zimbabwe captain Benjani Mwaruwari has stopped training with South African Premiership side SuperSport as his playing future continues to hang in the balance.

The possibility of retirement seems a strong option for the former Manchester City forward, who had spent the last few weeks keeping fit with SuperSport, after having done the same at Jomo Cosmos earlier.

The former Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers striker resurfaced at SuperSport last month in a bid to impress coach Gavin Hunt during training session as he seek to prolong his playing career since leaving English Football League One last season.

“My main ambition is to play top-flight football again this season,” he told last month. “I am hungry to achieve my goals this season.”

The ex-Warriors forward has previously said he will retire from the game if he does not secure a contract. — KickOff
