Football indaba successfully held

HARARE - Zimbabwe yesterday successfully hosted its first football indaba with the Asiagate match-fixing scandal hogging the limelight during deliberations.

Zifa, the ministry of Sports, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) and the corporate sector all attended the conference.

Addressing reporters after the indaba, Sports minister David Coltart said he will now table before Parliament resolutions passed.

Coltart said the meeting had also agreed that government support for national teams will from now only be channelled towards all representative national teams.

It was however, the Asiagate scandal that that was discussed at length, according to Zifa president Cuthbert Dube.

Dube said the Justice Ahmed Ebrahim-chaired ad hoc Ethics Committee had already delivered their eagerly awaited final report to the printers and it should be made public soon.
