Man in court for stealing from partner

HARARE - A 30-year-old Harare man who stole $8 000 from his partner was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts yesterday facing theft of trust property charges.

Christopher Nyamoto, 30, appeared before magistrate Anita Tshuma who remanded him out of custody on a $100 bail to October 1.

The court heard sometime in June this year in Harare, Nyamoto entered into an agreement with the complainant not mentioned in state papers in which they agreed that the complainant was going to inject cash for an order to supply water tanks to Christian Care.

The complainant, it is alleged gave Nyamoto $8 000 to fund the order.

State papers say Nyamoto supplied the order to Christian Care through his company Kaelnex Investments and was paid $21 000.

Instead of giving his partner his share, Nyamoto allegedly converted the money to his own use and the complainant reported the matter to the police leading to Nyamoto’s arrest.

As part of his bail conditions he was ordered to reside at his given address, surrender his passport, report every Friday to the police and not to interfere with state witnesses. - Staff Writer
