Ritual murder victims buried

HARARE - Two people who were gruesomely murdered in Chinamhora communal lands in suspected cases of ritual murder were buried yesterday afternoon in Parirewa Village.

Cephas Muchenje and Clemence Parirewa Jonas met their deaths through brutal attacks last Saturday night.
A mass church service for the deceased was held at Parirewa Roman Catholic Church prior to their burial in the same village.

Father Richard Tsanangurai Majuta led the mourners, preaching on the Bible story of Abel and Cain in which the latter murdered his brother, Abel.

“We are saddened by the deaths of the two people who were brutally murdered. In the Bible, we know God does not want people to kill one another and we learn a lot from the story of Cain and Abel being the first murder story in the Bible,” said Majuta.

A sombre mood engulfed the community, with friends and relatives of the two at the church service wailing in grief. Parirewa’s wife collapsed during body viewing after the church service.
