Stanchart in first Bankers League win

HARARE - Stanchart collected their first maximum points of the Bankers Soccer League season after humbling POSB 3-2 over the weekend.

So woeful has Stanchart performance been that it needed 17 games to finally win their first set of three points in a troubled campaign.

Whilst it was a positive result for Stanchart, who seat second from bottom with five points from 17 games, the result all but sealed POSB’s faint hopes of gate-crashing the title party.

POSB occupy fifth place with 29 points from 17 games, eight points adrift of joint log leaders FBC.

Elsewhere, FBC held ZB to a goalless draw, resulting in FBC piping ZB to the top spot with 37 points from 18 games, one point behind ZB with a game in hand.

FBC and ZB look set for a two-horse race challenge for the title as the league totters to an end.

TN surprised high riding CBZ 1-0 to move to third place.

CBZ now occupy third position with 33 points from 17 games.

Meanwhile, Ecobank were the highest scorers in week 19 of the league, thumping bottom placed Stanbic 5-1.

Kingdom returned to winning ways when they edged CABS 2-1 at Prince Edward grounds.
