Rusike honoured to play for Chiefs

JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs’ latest signing, Matthew Rusike, told the Siya crew that he is honoured to have penned a deal  with a club in the likes of Chiefs.

The Siya crew caught up with the 22-year-old at Naturena yesterday, ahead of the team’s morning training session.

The Zimbabwean international, who was on Jomo Cosmos’ books last season, concluded his move to the Soweto giants yesterday after a drawn-out negotiation process.

Despite having agreed to personal terms with Chiefs during the transfer window, a dispute between Cosmos and the striker needed to be resolved before finalising the move.

The dispute has since been resolved and he has been handed his clearance from Cosmos.

Rusike says that is he is focused and ready to challenge for a place in the team.

“I am honoured to play for Chiefs. They have a great history and great players are here at the team. I know it took time before I could finally join the team but now that I am here I have to concentrate on my game and help the team.

“I have to work hard to be in the team first before I can talk about how I will help the team. Seriously this is an honour,” Rusike concluded. — Soca Laduma
