PM to hold public wedding ceremony

HARARE - Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai said yesterday he will be tying the knot with his fiancée on Saturday in Umwinsidale in Harare, but there will be a public ceremony in the morning of the same day.

The PM’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka told the Daily News after the High Court threw out attempts by Tsvangirai’s ex-fiancée Lorcadia Karimatsenga to stop the wedding, that all was in place for the Saturday event, which will be preceded by a public ceremony at the Glamis Arena in Harare at 11am.

“The PM recognises that he is a national leader and many will not be able to join him on Saturday because of the limited space,” Tamborinyoka said.

“The public ceremony is to allow the generality of the public to join him in his hour of joy and celebration. This is not his wedding, it is the people’s wedding,” he said. - Gift Phiri
