'Open-air leisure joints' sprout in Harare

HARARE - Winter season is over and now its summer — time for pleasure.

The Daily News noted that entertainment lovers no longer feel comfortable enjoying their hard-earned money indoors (inside bars) partly because of the temperatures associated with summer season.

Rather, they prefer outdoor or open-air joints where they can enjoy their money while sitting in their posh vehicles as a way of showing-off among other reasons.

For this reason people are flooding outdoor entertainment joints such as Warren Park’s Mereki, KwaFatso in Glen Norah, Malvern Shops popularly known as kwaZindoga, Pamuzinda Highway X-Scape in Harare, Ziko and Chikumbamarara in Seke area among other places in search of “real entertainment”.

Most Harare business people in the leisure sector are diversifying their specialities of indoor-entertainment to outdoor entertainment in order to stay in business.

Ritz Bar and Butchery located in Kuwadzana, Harare is one of the joints that have diversified its operations in order to remain in business.

A family-oriented outdoor leisure spot was opened on Saturday in front of the bar.

Isaiah Chigayo the joint proprietor said business people have to change with the moving time.

“Now it is hot and customers are no longer comfortable boozing inside the bar, instead they prefer joints that offer outdoor entertainment.

Chigayo has created a family oriented open-door entertainment joint in front of his butchery and bar.

The butchery is stocked with both white and red meat suitable for braai.
