Woman steals $120 000 from boss

HARARE - A 30-year-old woman who allegedly stole more than $120 000 from her boss was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts yesterday.

Keritea da Silva, 30, appeared before the Harare magistrate Anita Tshuma facing theft charges.

The State alleges that sometime in May this year at  Digital Lifestyle at the Joina City in Harare’s central business district (CBD), da Silva received $127 460  from a client. She was supposed to hand it over to her boss.

Digital Lifestyle is a company that sells laptops, video cameras and cell phones among others.

According to state papers, instead of giving her boss the money, she converted it to her own use.

The offence was discovered by the software consultant who was checking out the transactions made by da Silva. She was arrested after that.

Magistrate Tshuma remanded da Silva out of custody on $500 bail.

She was ordered to reside at her given address, report to the police once a week and not to interfere with witnesses as part of her bail conditions.

Da Silva will be back in court on October 2 for trial.
