HARARE - Renowned actor Earnest Ndlovu has joined the Welshman Ncube-led MDC, becoming the latest artist to enter the intriguing world of politics.
MDC Youth Assembly secretary-general Discent Bajila confirmed the development.
“Yes, Earnest Ndlovu has joined the green revolution and this is a sign that it is being appreciated by the people. We welcome anyone to join the winning team because this is the only party that will carry the country forward,” Bajila said.
Qhubani Moyo, national organising secretary said Ndlovu’s endorsement was clear testimony of the MDC’s rising political stock.
“Ndlovu has shown confidence in the leadership of Welshman Ncube and the policies of the party,” Moyo said.
Ndlovu is best known for his role in intriguing Zimbabwean drama Isithembo.
But it is his role as Vukani Khoza, father to Zamani and Ajax, in the South Africa’s popularly watched soap Generations, that has given him fame.
He has acted in numerous SA television series including Egoli, African Skies, Going Up, Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, Justice for All, Home Affairs, Sokhulu and Partners, Angel, Okavango, Rhodes, Soul City, Madam & Eve, Charlie Jade and Izingane zoBaba.
He has also appeared in feature films which include inter alia African Story, Beat the Drum, Dark City, Rutanga Tapes and I Dreamed of Africa.
He played the role of minister of Home Affairs in the second season of the SABC 2 drama series 90 Plein Street, in 2009.
Ndlovu’s adventure into politics comes hard on heels of Ezra ‘Tshisa’ Sibanda, a famed radio and TV personality who last week expressed desire to contest the Vungu House of Assembly seat (Lower Gweru) on the main MDC ticket.

As for this Qhubani guy, it just goes to show what a farce this so called MDC is. Maybe they should just forget politicks and start a drama group. Welshmen, Qhubani, and of late Enerst are just a bunch of drama characters, if not clowns, no one ever takes them seriously in politics. They can go on clowning and we the public shall carry on laughing
Please give us a break for goodness' sake!
