Hwange clobber Hardbody
Thursday, 01 November 2012 12:27
HWANGE - Hwange boosted their chances of surviving relegation from the Castle Premiership by thrashing fellow strugglers Hardbody here yesterday.

The victory propelled Chipangano to position 11 on the Premiership log standings. Hwange are now on 30 points, two above police side Black Mambas who were beaten 3-0 at home by log leaders Dynamos.

Hardbody now need divine intervention if they are to keep their Premiership status as they occupy position 15 on the log with only 23 points.

Hwange opened their account through first half strikes by veteran striker Gilbert Zulu 19 minutes into the game and Farai Vimisai, who fired home after 32 minutes.

Two second half penalties by Gerald Ndlovu in the 54th minute and Zambian defender Aaron Katebe in the 75th minute made the match secure for Nation Dube’s men.

Thonisani Sibelo scored on the stroke of full time to add to the rout.

Hardbody, who are sure bets for relegation after just one season in the Zimbabwe top flight league, scored their face saver through Calisto Maheya, who pulled one back in the 48th minute.

Hwange coach Nation Dube was understandably a happy man after the match.

“I am very happy because we picked up three points today and the point we got from the draw with Buffaloes last weekend.

“I am confident that we will continue getting more points,” Dube said.

Hardbody coach Godfrey Tamirepi blamed the defeat on poor officiating.

“The last goal was the only clear goal. The other goals were dubious. The referee let us down today,” he said. - Mercy Mujakachi
