Chinyama admits to ‘tough’ match
Friday, 28 September 2012 10:00
HARARE - Takesure Chinyama, who was booed by a section of Orlando Pirates fans after coming onto the pitch against Ajax Cape Town, says despite his goal the game was “bad and good”.

The Zimbabwean international came on as a substitute on 58 minutes in his second appearance for Bucs, and scored with a rocket of a shot in the 90th minute to silence the critics and seal a Pirates win.

“I think the pace of the game was a bit high and coming in the second half, it is never easy to adjust,” the 29-year-old admits on the club’s official website.

“For me, I would describe that game as bad and good. I scored and it eases the pressure off me a little bit but I also felt that things were not happening when I came in. It was a tough match and we had to win. Football is a strange game and I was lucky enough to be in a right position to score. That goal changed my evening.”

Meanwhile, Sifiso Myeni, who scored the opener against Ajax and was named Man of the Match, says he is enjoying his new role behind the strikers.

“I’m usually used on the wings and obviously it takes a lot longer for me to get into critical positions and try to cause damage up front,” Myeni tells Pirates’ website.

“Playing behind the strikers allows me to be in goal scoring positions more often. When I was still at Wits I used to score a lot of goals from that position."

“I would like to thank the coach for giving me the opportunity to play in that position again against Ajax but, having said that, it doesn’t mean that I don’t like the wing. I am comfortable playing in any position the coach wants me to play,” he says. — KickOff.com
