HARARE - Monomotapa have hiked the gate entry charges for their crucial Castle Premiership tie with log leaders Dynamos widely expected by many as a potential banana skin for DeMbare’s title aspirations.

Monomotapa chairman Joseph Mukoki confirmed to the Daily News that the club has resolved to increase the ticket prices to cash in on the thousands of fans expected to throng Rufaro.

“The cheapest price will be pegged at $5”, said Mukoki.

“The grandstand will be $10 while the VIP will cost $20.We believe it is a great match that will expose fans to football of the highest quality.”

The ticket prices revealed by Mukoki are exactly the same charged by DeMbare for their clash with Highlanders last Sunday in which the two title favourites battled to a 1-1 draw.

The 2009 Zimbabwe champions, previously in the title race, lost 1-0 to Gunners I the midweek.

“It is a pity we lost to Gunners. Gunners really wanted the game more than us and deservedly got the full points,” Mukoki said.

“The fact that we lost to Gunners could actually make Dynamos fans come in huge numbers wrongly expecting their club to romp to an easy victory.”

Mukoki maintains that his club still has a lot to play for despite being close to guaranteeing position three on the log. Monomotapa will have to raise their game if they are to stop rampant Dynamos, who clobbered police side Black Mambas 3-0 at Morris Depot on Wednesday.

The reigning Zimbabwe champions saw off Warumwa Warumwa though goals from Simba Sithole, Timire Mamvura and Cliff Sekete.
