Cairns leads Zambezi Tour money list
Tuesday, 04 September 2012 11:40
HARARE - Ryan Cairns shot to the top of the Golden Pilsner Zambezi Tour Order of Merit following his FSG Lowveld Pro-Am victory in Triangle late last month.

Cairns shot a final round two-over-par 74 to finish with a gross total score of six-under-par 282 to win the $7 012 prize money for first place.

The win in Triangle, which was Cairns’ fifth professional victory in the last 10 months, took his total earnings on the local circuit to $12 000 after taking part in five tournaments.

In Triangle, Cairns, who has just returned from the seven-event of the Australian PGA, beat Rogers Jack for first place after he finished on three-under-par 285.

It has been an eventful few weeks for Cairns after he won the Big Easy Tour in March and the Vodacom Origins in May on the Sunshine Tour.

Cairns also won the final event on the Australian PG Acircuit when he shot a seven-under-par 67 on the final round to win at the Woodford Golf Course.

Second on the money list is Ignatius Mketekete, who has amassed a total of $10 927 from six tournaments.
Mketekete had a good start in Triangle but lost his way to finish in third place on two-under-par 284.
He pocketed a $4 462 for his efforts in the Lowveld.

Tongo Charamba sits in third place on the money list with total earnings of $9 765 from six tournaments.
Meanwhile, the Golden Pilsner Zambezi Tour has announced that the Hwange Open tournament, which had been scheduled for early October, could be rescheduled.

The tour is still in consultations with the sponsor and further details will be made available once the discussions are complete.
