Pasuwa cautious despite comfortable lead

HARARE - Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa warned his side are not yet through to the African Champions League first-round despite beating Lesotho Correctional Services 3-0 in the first leg of the preliminary round.

A goal each from Tawanda Muparati, Partson Jaure and Boban Zirintusa secured a convincing win at Rufaro Stadium yesterday but Pasuwa insists the Glamour Boys will not rest on their laurels in the return leg in Maseru in a fortnight.

“Our main problem was the chances that we missed and if we had buried those chances, it would have been easier for us when we go there,” Pasuwa told reporters after the match.

“You see, if we can score three goals here why can’t they score the same number of goals there? So we ought to be very careful when we go there. We have to work on our weaknesses so that we can get a win when we are playing away.”

Zirintusa, one of the scorers, will look back with disbelief at some of the chances he failed to bury.

“Had he been patient enough he could have scored two or three,” Pasuwa said of the Uganda international.

“We have to go and fight.”

LCS coach Mosholi Mokhothu was confident of turning the tables in Maseru.

“Dynamos were good, especially in the crosses, they had good crosses they have good height and that is where they killed us, I have to thank my keeper, he played well today,” Mokhothu said.

“We started well, especially in the second half, but my boys got tired, they didn’t expect this type of play from Dynamos but we still have a chance to beat them at home.”

The Lesotho champions came into this tournament having won their domestic league back-to-back, but have had a poor run in the African safari.  They have never progressed past the preliminary round.
