HARARE - The Zimbabwe Sevens rugby team has a strong chance of making an impression at the South African leg of the IRB World Sevens Series in Port Elizabeth next weekend after being handed a fair draw yesterday.

The Cheetahs were expected to leave the country yesterday for the leg, now called the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens.

The Cheetahs will line up in Pool D against USA, Canada as well as Dubai leg quarter-finalists Portugal.

Hosts South Africa were drawn in a tough Pool A, where they will face Dubai winners Samoa as well as France and Australia.

The group of death is perhaps Pool B, which pits Sevens powerhouse New Zealand, their Pacific region rivals Fiji as well as fierce competitors Scotland and England.

New Zealand have won South African leg an impressive three times in a row.

Pool C consists of Kenya, Wales, Argentina and Spain.

CHEETAHS SQUAD

Jacques Leitao (captain), Fortune Chipendo, Njabulo Ndlovu, Justin Coles, Lucky Sithole,  Tangai Nemadire, Kilvan Magunje, Daniel Hondo, Gardner Nechironga, Wes Mbanje,  Tafadzwa Chitokwindo, Garth Ziegler.
