HARARE - Zimbabwe international forward Edward Sadomba’s return to the Warriors has the whole of Angola worried ahead of Sunday’s crucial 2013 African nations Cup qualifier.

Sadomba was recalled to the Warriors fold last week after he was cleared of any wrong doing by the Zimbabwe Football Association’s ad hoc Ethics Committee in the widely publicised Asiagate match-fixing scandal.

The Al Hilal forward joined his Warriors teammates on the back drop of some good form for his Sudanese club.

Although the 29-year-old is still to make an impact in Warriors colours, he has been a consistent performer in African inter-club competitions for Al Hilal in the last few seasons.

He is at present the leading goal scorer in the African Confederation Cup with five goals to his name after netting a brace against Al Ahly Shandy last Friday.

On that same day, Sadomba was named among the 32 finalists for Caf’s African Footballer for 2012 gong for his exploits in the Confed Cup.

Yesterday, the Luanda-based Journal Dos Desportos ran a front page story with the headline, ‘Palancas Negras defence should guard against Sadomba’.

The article’s author Jorge Neto went on to write: “In next Sunday's game at the November 11 Stadium, one of the players that the Palancas Negras defence must closely mark is striker Edward Sodomba of Al Hilal Sudan.

“He is now the top goal scorer in the African Confederation Cup, where his team competed against Interclube of Angola in Group A. The player scored two goals at the weekend to lead his team into the semifinals of the Confed Cup, a sign that he is in good form.”

The Angolans know Sadomba very well as he was on target for his club when they held Interclube to a 1-1 draw in Luanda early last month.

Meanwhile, Palancas Negras midfielder Geraldo has admitted that the Warriors are a quality side and will not be easily defeated.

Geraldo told the same publication: “Zimbabwe is a good team and won 3-1 because they have quality. We have to do our job, which is to win the game here at home and expect the support of everyone to achieve our objective which is to qualify for the Nations Cup.

“The aim of all the players that are here is to give their maximum to help the national team. We're doing a good job and hopefully we will win the game on Sunday and we are determined to qualify.” - Sports Writer
