Zim fall in Fifa rankings
Thursday, 08 November 2012 11:47
HARARE - Zimbabwe have fallen nine places to 98 in November’s Fifa football rankings, which were announced yesterday.

The Warriors are back in their October position after jumping nine spots last month.

The Warriors had rose to position 89 after beating Angola 3-1 in the first leg of the decisive African Nations Cup qualifier in October, but a 2-0 defeat by the same opponents in the second leg saw them revert back to their old position.

The 2-0 defeat in Angola in the second leg saw the Palancas Negras seal passage to the Afcon 2013 at the expense of Zimbabwe, a shattering result which forced the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) to dissolve the entire national team.

World champions Spain stayed top of Fifa world rankings while Germany are number two with South American giants Argentina  occupying third place.

Ivory Coast remained Africa’s top-ranked team on the global rankings on position 15. - Sport Writer
