Swansong for Dynamos stars

HARARE - With Zimbabwe’s domestic football off-season fast approaching, the Mbada Diamonds Cup final on Saturday is likely to be the last appearance in the blue-and-white of Dynamos for more than a few of the club’s leading players.

The 19 times Zimbabwean champions face Monomotapa at Rufaro Stadium with a number of their key players on the transfer wish list of major South African clubs who are looking to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window.

It has been a season to savour for the DeMbare, who won the Castle Premiership title for the second year-running and are now on the verge of retaining the Mbada Diamonds Cup.

It is now an open secret that striker Simba Sithole, who joined mid-season and ended the term with six goals, is likely to make a quick return to the South African Premiership after attracting the interest of AmaZulu, Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport.

Midfield magician Denver Mukamba and impressive defender Partson Jaure are also understood to be on the verge of moving down south.

It will not be a surprise if 2011 Golden Boot winner Rodreck Mutuma joins the great trek down south.
Mutuma went for trials with Ajax Cape Town in South Africa at the beginning of the year.

Although initial reports back then indicated that the towering forward flopped, informed sources told the Daily News yesterday that the Urban Warriors have been closely monitoring Mutuma’s progress and are interested in having another look.

Dynamos executive committee chairperson Kenny Mubaiwa revealed in an interview with this paper this week that the club will only draw a wish list of new players after getting indication of current squad players likely to leave the club.

Mubaiwa added that the record- winning Zimbabwe champions will not stand in the way of players who want to leave.
