How Mine earn draw at Colliery
Monday, 15 April 2013 11:47
HARARE - Castle Premiership debutants How Mine emerged from the Colliery with a valuable point after holding Hwange courtesy of Simbarashe Sithole’s equaliser yesterday.

Yesterday’s result means How Mine have won twice, drew one and lost only once in the four games they have played in the Castle Premiership.

Hwange were left searching for their first win of the season after playing out two consecutives draws in the opening weekend with Motor Action (0-0) and Black Rhinos (1-1).

Last weekend, the coal miners were walloped 4-2 by Buffaloes away in Mutare.

Yesterday, Hwange had taken the lead in the 56th minute after forward Gilbert Zulu was hacked down inside the box by Brighton Dube and they were awarded a penalty.

Chipangano captain Gerald Ndlovu took the spot kick to give the home side the lead.

Moments later, How Mine captain Herbert Dick complicated matters for his side when he was sent off for foul language.

A goal and a man down, How Mine were there for the taking but Hwange failed to kill off the game.

The home side were made to rue those missed chances in the 72nd minute when Sithole levelled matters for the Bulawayo side with a wonderful header inside the box.

The coal miners had many chances to get back in the lead but their forwards fluffed their lines, particularly Farai Vimisai, who squandered a wonderful effort to make it 2-1 with nine minutes to go.

How Mine also had their chances to win the match but they were also found wanting in the final third.

Menard Muora came close to winning it for the gold miners but his free kick from the edge of the box went inches over 12 minutes from time. - Sports Writer
