HARARE - Zimbabwean fans and indeed the entire squad and coaching staff will be very happy with yesterday's turn around result which has levelled the Teletalk ODI series against Bangladesh.

 Tendai Chatara had a fantastic game, bowling intelligently with the new ball, and yet again proving that he has a great deal to offer.

Bangladesh's top order found the going tough against the new ball, and both Kyle jarvis and Chatara's lines and lengths were exemplary to the Bangladeshi openers, Tamim Iqbal, and the struggling Mohammad Ashraful.

What must have infuriated captain Brendan Taylor and the coaching staff however, was the poor finish by Jarvis and in particular Shingi Masakadza, who had a very disappointing outing with the ball.

What left everybody speechless was both Masakadza and Jarvis persistently bowling length deliveries which Abdur Razzak took full advantage of towards the latter end of the Bangladesh innings.

Zimbabwe to their credit, showed great composure when they went out to bat. They could very easily have been caught up in Razzak's demolition job, and, there is no doubt that emotions would have been high, and harsh words would have been spoken in the change room.

But, Zimbabwe got off to a refreshing start, as both Hamilton Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda dictated terms to the Bangladeshi bowlers from the onset, never allowing them to settle.

Though Hamilton Masakadza will surely be disappointed with yet another poor shot as he needlessly played across the line and had his stumps knocked back in the process.

Sikandar Raza Butt looked more settled in his second innings at international level, although it is clear to see that he has a few technical issues in regards to wanting to constantly hit the ball through the on-side, as well as a tendency to lose his balance, which ultimately cost him his wicket.

Sean Williams was at his very best and it was fitting for him to score the winning runs, which also took him to a career best 78 not out.

Both he and Malcolm Waller were mature and composed when Brendan Taylor got out, Taylor's dismissal could have caused another one of Zimbabwe's spectacular mid-order collapses, but for once, the cricketing gods were smiling benevolently upon Zimbabwe as Williams and Waller calmly stirred Zimbabwe to victory.

So now it is set up for what will hopefully be a closely contested final on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe are well aware that consistently is a quality they have been lacking for a very long time, and will no doubt be desperate to silent the critics come Wednesday. - Dean du Plesis
