HARARE - Debutants How Mine yesterday held Harare City to a draw in a Castle Premiership match that never rose to expected heights.

In a match of very few chances City took the lead in the 14th minute courtesy of Martin Vengesayi’s strike.

The home side’s celebrations were short lived as two minutes later, Ocean Mpofu rose highest to head home Thandazani Ndlovu’s cross and bring the visitors back on level terms.

The point gained ensured City remain sixth on the log standings with 8 points from six games whilst How Mine move into seventh place with the same number of points but an inferior goal difference.

City coacg Bigboy Mawiwi said: “A draw is better than losing, it’s a point in the bag though its two points lost but all the same I want commend the players. They played very well, we had five of our regular players unavailable so I think with those changes it tends to change the flow of our game but I give credit to the new players who started today.”

How Mine coach Philani Mabhena said his side was still trying to find their feet in the top flight.

“We are satisfied with the point because we know what City are capable of doing,” he said.

“But obviously we didn’t perform to our best but m happy with the point away from home. We are fighting for survival. We are new in the league so we very satisfied.”
