Rhinos, Harare City draw
Monday, 15 April 2013 11:49
HARARE - Wasteful Harare City blew away several chances to be held by newly-promoted Black Rhinos in an entertaining Castle Premiership match yesterday.

Harare City’s Obsorn Mukuradare thrust the hosts into the lead on 23 minutes while the gritty soldiers plucked a point from the jaws of defeat six minutes from time through Wonder Kapinda.

Midfielder Godfrey Nyamadzawo could have given Harare City the lead in the 15th minute when he got to the end of a delivery from Silas Songani but Jameson Mukombwe blocked the effort. Marshall Mudewe’s attempt, at the other end was headed away by Crispen Dickson.

A timely intervention by Brighton Chandisaita kept the score sheet blank in the 20th minute when the defender blocked Ronald Maketo’s effort.

On several occasions, Rhinos were rescued by their captain Chandisaita who made many telling blocks to keep Chauya Chipembere in the game.

There was however nothing Chandisaita could do to stop Mukuradare from putting the host into the lead on 23 minutes after he headed in David Kutyauripo’s cross.

During the first half, Harare City’s impressive build-ups then saw the former Dynamos fullback Kutyauripo taking over the show with some intelligent shielding and hold-up play.

After the breather, Rhinos began controlling the game following the introduction of Lazarus Muhoni and Martin Mine.

Rhinos found their equaliser on 44 minutes through Kapinda’s long range shot after he capitalised on a defensive lapse.

“I’m happy to collect a point from one of the toughest game of the season,” said Rhinos coach Nesbert Saruchera. “Harare City had a good game but we also came back at them and that is why we managed to get an equaliser.” - Blessings Mashaya
