DeMbare face tricky Triangle
Sunday, 14 April 2013 12:43
HARARE - Dynamos return to Rufaro Stadium this afternoon hoping to overcome the tricky challenge posed by newcomers Triangle and prove that they can strike the right chord for their Castle Premiership campaign.

The Harare giants somehow hit a terrible patch, which left a lot of questions hanging about their pedigree to mount a serious challenge to defend the title they have won in the last two years.

That poor form has left the Glamour Boys winless in their opening three matches, which saw them collecting three points out of possible nine after posting identical 1-1 draws against Black Mambas, Chicken inn and Shabanie Mine.

A demoralising first round exit in the African Champions League to an ordinary Tunisian side Club Athletic  Bizertin coupled with their main rivals Highlanders, FC Platinum, Harare City and even CAPS United getting off their campaigns to a flyer, DeMbare are now under immense pressure to start picking up points before it’s too late.

Callisto Pasuwa faces an uphill task to convince everyone related with this team that he could turn things around starting with a win against Gishon Ntini’s men this afternoon.

The Glamour Boys will again be forced to dig deeper for goals as Francesco Zekumbiwira remains side-lined through injury.

The former Hwange forward is joined on the sidelines by full back Ocean Mushure, who has an ankle injury and has since been ruled out of today’s clash.

While welcoming back midfielder Stephen Alimenda to full fitness other players - Partson Jaure, Tawanda Muparati and Murape Murape – were expected to pass late fitness test to be considered for today’s match after they picked up varying injuries.

Defenders Morris Kadzola and Sydney Linyama remain sidelined as they are yet to be cleared by their respective clubs Motor Action and Chicken Inn respectively.

And given the current state of affairs in his squad, Pasuwa will be forced to make several changes from the team that did duty against Shabanie Mine during the week.

Despite having many players on the casualty list team manager Richard Chihoro said the team is geared to pick their first set of full points.

“More than half a dozen players are injured. We have registered 30 players and we will have to pick our best squad so that we can start pick up maximum points,” Chihoro said.

“We are just hoping most the guys will pass fitness test so that we can have a competitive team. We will have a clear picture by end of the day (yesterday) on most of the players who sits out on Friday’s training”.

Dembare knows they have to be at their best and Ntini this week told this publication that Champions will definitely feel the pressure when they clash today.

Ntini, who is no stranger to top flight management having previously coached CAPS United, Shooting Stars and Black Rhinos in the PSL, said his side will definitely be going to pile more misery to Dynamos.

“It’s going to be a tough game but one thing that I know is that we are ready for the challenge. We respect them but at the same time we don’t fear them,” he said.

“We have done very well. We have managed some positives and against Highlanders we were just unfortunate to lose that one.

“Teams like Dynamos are very unpredictable and they can rise anytime but we want to capitalise on their loss of form so that we pile more pressure on them. We need to advantage of their situation playing under pressure.

“If they are to win they will not get the points on silver platter. They will have to work for them and for us we are ready for the task. We hope to rise from our last defeat against Highlanders.” - Godknows Matarutse
