HARARE - Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has admitted for the first time that he has no idea whether his one-year Zimbabwean top-flight career is about to end.

The Zambian, who is contracted to the Bulawayo giants until end of 2013, wants to continue in the job and is confident he has the support of the players.

But he said he was in the dark whether he has the backing of the club’s entire leadership.

Highlanders have struggled in the build-up to the upcoming new season, losing to South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 before going down 2-1 to lowly Gwanda Royals, who play second division football.

Alarm bells rang louder when Tshilamoya were dismantled 6-1 on aggregate by bitter rivals Dynamos in the Bob89 Super Challenge Cup.

“I cannot comment much on the issue, you know who is behind that,” Kaindu told the Daily News on Sunday this week in apparent reference to calls for his ouster.

“Find out my brother who is behind all this, it’s your job, people are talking but only God knows if I will stay at Highlanders, but currently I’m happy at Bosso.”

Kaindu guided Highlanders to their best seasons in six years, only losing the league title to Dynamos on goal difference.

Following that promising performance last season, fear is rife that Bosso might struggle to mount a serious title challenge this time around if their pre-season form is anything to go by. - Blessings Mashaya
