HARARE -  “I am happy with the result. We have to ensure we prepare thoroughly. Angola is very good but I am always positive. I was not happy with the way the players came (late) into camp. The association have a duty to ensure that the players come into camp on time. We have a very good chance of qualifying. I would like to thank the fans who came for the match, they were our 12th man.” - RAHMAN GUMBO, COACH

TAPUWA KAPINI, CAPTAIN

“I am happy because I came despite the injury I had. I am always positive about my country. My country and my team needed me so I had to come because I couldn’t let Zimbabwe down. Even if I had played for five minutes, I would have been happy. Maybe I should have communicated better with my defenders before their goal. Credit to the youngsters for a good game, even though the fans didn’t believe in them totally.”

KHAMA BILLIAT, MAN-OF-THE-MATCH

“I am happy about the goal I scored. I will always give it all for my country. There is still a lot of work to do but we are ready to fight hard for our qualification.”

ESROM NYANDORO, DEFENDER

“I am happy with the way we performed. I am happy with the way I am playing at the back. I am ready to play my part to help the team qualify. I have been playing for the national team for 12 years. I will make a decision on whether to continue if the team qualifies for the Afcon finals.”

PETER NDLOVU, ASSISTANT COACH

“All those who were talking about the players who didn’t come have seen how wrong they were to doubt these youngsters. It was a brave performance by the team.”

DAVID COLTART, SPORTS MINISTER

“Last week I met Zifa president Cuthbert Dube on the football indaba. The ministry is determined to help Zifa get on a sound financial footing. Corporates want to associate with positive brands.”

KIRSTY COVENTRY, ZIMBABWEAN SWIMMING ICON (ON HER FACEBOOK PAGE)

“Zimbabwe Warriors beat Angola 3-1. The stadium wasn’t full but the crowd created a fantastic atmosphere with their support. Well done to the Warriors and good luck for your second match in a couple of weeks.”
