Gunners salvage late draw
Monday, 24 September 2012 11:32
HARARE - Ishmael Lawe scored a 90th minute goal for Gunners to deny Hardbody a win in a Castle Premiership match at Ascot Stadium yesterday.

Callisto Maheya had put Hardbody in the lead after 77 minutes, tapping in a low cross from fellow substitute Richard Jongwe but Lawe, who had a good game, waited until the last minute to ensure Gunners came away with a point in an otherwise dull encounter.

The tempo of the match only rose in the last 15 minutes of the match with Hardbody taking the game to their opponents.

Hardbody coach Godfrey Tamirepi made a masterstroke change on 75 minutes, bringing in Jongwe for Irvine Mugwamba, who was playing as an anchorman in place of the suspended Brian Juru.

Soon after being introduced, Jongwe roasted two Gunners defenders on the left flank and whipped in a low cross that Maheya tapped in past Gunners goalkeeper Clayton Dombo.

Hardbody started playing deep, trying to defend the solitary goal but were punished when Lawe capitalised on poor communication between opposite defenders to slot home a bicycle kick from inside the box. - Sports Writer
