Schoultz, McKinlay win Zim Open pre-Q
Monday, 15 April 2013 11:51
HARARE - Local pros Dean Schoultz and Adam McKinlay both shot a one-under 71 to win the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open Pre-Qualifier tournament at Chapman Golf Club yesterday.

Schoultz and McKinlay were one shot ahead of the rest of the field as they were the only golfers to finish below par.

Tanaka Mhere, a 15-year-old Peterhouse student, together with Borrowdale Brooke-based professional Ryan Lang were tied for third after carding an even par 72.

The other remaining four places up for grabs went Peter Banda, Tich Musemburi, Dean Nysschen and Sheldon Steyn.

The four golfers were all on one-over 73, which was the cut off point.

Yesterday’s pre-qualifier featured 74 players and these eight successful golfers will now go into the draw for the main championship which starts on Independence Day.

Today is a practice day for all the golfers who will be taking part in the championship while a Pro-Am has been scheduled for tomorrow. - Sports Writer
