HARARE - Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) director general Charles Nhemachena was elected into the executive Committee of the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (CSCSA) on Wednesday in Maseru, Lesotho.  

Nhemachena is now the chairperson of CSCA’s Zone Six finance and marketing commission.

The new Zone Six chairperson is Namibian Vetumbuavi Veii with George Jana of Malawi coming in as his deputy.

South African national Mvuzo Martin Mbebe will double up as the Zone Six’s secretary- general and treasurer.

The Zone six executive committee, which will be in charge for the next four years, received and considered a report on Zambia’s state of preparedness to host the fifth edition of the Zone Six Youth Games to be held in the Zambian capital city, Lusaka, in December 2012. Zimbabwe is also scheduled to participate in the Games.

The Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) is the sports arm of the African Union. It was formed in the 1960s and is headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The main aim of the SCSA is to use sports to achieve peace, integration and unity in Africa.
