HARARE - Black Mambas recovered from last weekend’s defeat to FC Platinum by earning their second win of the 2013 Castle Premiership season yesterday.

The police outfit raced into an early lead through Kasimero Chimbadzwa in the 16th minute and they would go onto hold on until the whistle.

Mambas started strongly, with Nicolas Alifandika and Last Chibwiro causing all sorts of problems for the Monomotapa defence.

It did not come as a surprise when Chimbadzwa capitalised on a defensive lapse before firing a shot which wrong footed Monoz goalkeeper Tapiwa Zvaita.

Monomotapa seemed to run out of ideas whenever they got into the final third.

The 2008 champions created a number of chances but Biggie Zuze’s men failed to convert them.

A timely intervention by Ben Nyahunzvi kept their intact in the 24th minute when he denied Monoz captain Kuda Musharu an equaliser.

Musharu also had a thunderous effort well saved by Mambas goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaunga on the half hour mark.

After the breather, Monomotapa was a better side and began controlling the game following the introduction of Zvikomborero Bizeki.

They were however let down by their poor finishing in front of goal.

Monoz coach Big Zuze was disappointed with his side’s poor showing in front of goal after the match.

“One could see that the guys had the spirit and we dominated the match for the better part,” Zuze said.

“We created chances and pound for pound, we were on top but our inability is to finish off the opponents and precision has been lacking. However, we are not disheartened and will work hard.”
