HARARE - Zimbabwe motorsport federation will host a fundraising games day to assist Peter Whyte, who had a life-threatening accident back in December during a race meeting at Bulawayo Motoring Club.

The fundraising event will be held at the association’s club house in Eastlea on February 9.

The 19-year-old Whyte had the accident whilst riding in the Magelli series at the race meeting in Bulawayo before he lost control of his bike, culminating in him hitting his head against a tree.

Whyte was hospitalised for a period of 45 days, undergoing various operations and procedures which brought him out of his coma.

Zimbabwe motorsport federation spokesperson Temba Mazvimbakupa said: “We all consider Peter as one of our own in the motorsport fraternity; this event will go a long way raising some funds to help with the substantial costs involved in his rehabilitation.” - Sports Writer
