BULAWAYO - Adam Ndlovu’s final resting place has been confirmed and the legendary striker will be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Family spokesman Madinda Ndlovu yesterday briefed journalists on the burial programme, which will begin on Friday.

“The programme is two way with the first part being on Friday when Adam’s body will be taken from Nyaradzo Funeral Parlor to the Chicken Inn head offices before being transported to Luveve Stadium and then back to Nyaradzo,” Madinda said.

“It is our way of letting him bid farewell to Bulawayo and all the people who want to say their goodbyes can do that as the procession makes its way to Luveve and back.”

Players from Chicken Inn, Highlanders and the national team are expected to accompany Adam’s body and will jog in front of the hearse, clad in their respective football strip.

“On Friday is the day that we will have speeches from stakeholders and these include Zifa, Highlanders and Chicken Inn,” Madinda added.

The Highlanders legend also said high profile people were expected to grace Adam’s burial on Saturday, although he did not reveal any names.

The church service will be held from 08:00 hours on Saturday morning at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre and from there Adam’s body will pass through his old neighborhood of Makokoba and then past Barbourfields Stadium before being taken to his last resting place at Lady Stanley.

Meanwhile, Adam’s brother, Peter, who was injured in the car accident that claimed the life of the Chicken Inn head coach and their female companion Nomqhele Tshili, went under the knife yesterday morning.

“The reason why we had kept Peter in the dark about Adam’s passing on was because we wanted to be sure about his state of health,” Madinda explained. “And so after the tests that were done on him showed that his injuries were not life threatening and his mind was sound, we informed him and after that the doctors decided to operate on both his legs.”

The operation took some three hours and Madinda said it was done so that Peter could attend his brother’s funeral on Saturday. - Sakheleni Nxumalo
