HARARE - Former Zimbabwe goalkeepers coach Emmanuel Nyahuma, who was slapped with a life ban alongside 14 other individuals found guilty of match-fixing and illegal betting, has given up in his bid to secure freedom after failing to pay a  $6 000 appeals fee.

The former Black Aces goalkeeper was one of 11 individuals who missed the deadline to pay the fee to the Zifa Appeals Committee set up by the federation last month.

“I’m not worried for failing to pay appeals fees and I’m not going to take any action against Zifa,” Nyahuma told the Daily News yesterday.

“It’s not fair, I never contacted anyone to fix matches because I was just a worker going to work and we were told that there were matches to be played and I could not question since I was an employee. However, there is nothing I can do. I will try to live without breaking the rules.”

Nyahuma said he totally failed to raise the required $6 000.

“Six thousand dollars is too much, where can I get that amount of money, the judgment was too harsh but you must know that God is for us all.”

Former Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa, former national side captain Method Mwanjali, Bidvest Wits defender Thomas Sweswe, The Herald Sports Editor Robson Sharuko and ex-CAPS United coach Taurai Mangwiro are the only individuals who filed their appeals fee just before end of deadline last Friday. - Blessings Mashaya
