HARARE - Draws characterised the top end of the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) at the weekend.

NRSL log leaders Black Rhinos were held to a goalless draw by a spirited Twalumba United at Commando Stadium on Saturday.

The draw however, did little to halt Rhinos’ relentless march towards promotion as the point saw them scaling to 50 points from the 22 games, seven points adrift of second-placed DStv Rangers.

Rangers, on their part, were presented with the perfect opportunity to close down on Rhinos when they travelled to Banket to face Banket United on Sunday.

Banket United played with grit and determination to snatch a point from the NRL title hopefuls.

The match ended 1-1.

ZPC Kariba emerged as the only winners in the top four teams of the NRL after defeating Mwana Africa 1-0 on Sunday.

The result catapulted ZPC to third place with 40 points from 22 games.

Power Masters dropped into fourth placed after being held to a 1-1 draw by Skylink at Denbismark Stadium with 39 points from 22 games.

Meanwhile, Aces Youth Academy collected their 14th draw of the season after playing out a goalless draw against Scotia.

AYA who anchor the 16-team log have only won three games from their last 22 matches and with just 14 points on the log, the side looks set for an early exit from the second tier league.
