Zambians expected at Highlanders
Wednesday, 09 January 2013 11:08
BULAWAYO - Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has revealed that he is expecting some players from his native Zambia to join the Bulawayo giants in the forthcoming season.

“A lot of players want to play for Highlanders, not only from within the country, but also from outside the country and we expect a couple of players from Zambia,” Kaindu said.

The Highlanders gaffer, however, declined to name the players but said quite a few of his countrymen have expressed an interest in joining Bosso and he is expecting a couple to turn up in the coming days.

Kaindu was speaking after his team’s second day of training at Hillside Dams, which he described as a stop gap measure as he waits for the club leadership to secure proper training facilities.

“We don’t have a training ground at the moment and while this is not the right training that we are doing, we cannot sit around and wait until a ground is secured,” Kaindu said.

“Modern football requires players to do most of their training with the ball, which we are not doing at the moment and while we may gain fitness, the coordination will not be there.”

Some of the new players at the training session yesterday included former Motor Action players Fortune Ncube and Thembani “Smaller” Masuku, former Cyprus based striker Thabani Moyo and former Highlanders junior players Ryan Mabhena and Tinashe Dube.

Dube has been playing in Botswana while Mabhena was at Southern Region Division One outfit New West.

Another returnee is holding linkman Munyaradzi Tongai, who was offloaded during the mid-season transfer window last season. - Sakheleni Nxumalo
