Sables unchanged in rankings
Monday, 19 November 2012 11:49
HARARE - The Zimbabwe rugby team has retained 29th place in world rankings despite two recent test defeats to Namibia and Spain.

The Sables remained static in the latest IRB world rankings released yesterday.

Zimbabwe lost 37-34 to Namibia in the opening match of last week’s Windhoek Lager Tri-Nations before going down 47-14 to Spain four days later.

For beating Zimbabwe, both Namibia and Spain moved a rung up on the ladder.

Namibia moved up from 22nd to 21st while the Spaniards also jumped one place from position 20 to 19.
Meanwhile, Spain beat Namibia 38-37 in a thrilling match in Windhoek on Saturday to clinch the one-off three-nation series.

Spain turned around a halftime deficit of 26-17 and although the lead changed several times, their flyhalf Jaime Nava put over the winning penalty in the final minute to snatch a dramatic victory. - Sports Writer
