Rhinos, Dynamos clash
Sunday, 24 March 2013 14:48
HARARE - Castle Lager Premiership returnees, Black Rhinos will give their supporters an insight of what to expect in the new season when they square off with champions Dynamos in a friendly match at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.

Rhinos, who used to boast of football greats back in the days such as the then talismanic Stanford "Stix" Mtizwa and the late Stanley "Sinyo" Ndunduma, made a return to the top flight, having spent four seasons in the unfashionable world of Division One.

Chauya Chipembere, sealed an emotional return to the Premiership last season after snatching the Zifa Northern Region Division One championship and the big question remains if they will stand the heat and emulate some of their yesteryear stars.

Rhinos have been busy during the off-season strengthening their squad signing players like defender Bruce Homora, midfielders Milton Kureva and Ndabazile Ndlovu and striker Brian Muzondiwa all from DStv Rangers.

The army side has also brought in the DC Academy duo of Marshal Mudewe and Hebert Rusawo, Jameson Mukobwe from Twalumba FC and Wonder Kapinda from Monomotapa.

Rhinos coach Nesbert Saruchera revealed that they are taking their friendly match against Dynamos seriously.

“This is our last preparatory match before we get into serious business and we will be taking the match seriously,” said Saruchera.

“Our preparations have been going on well and playing Dynamos will help us gauge our strength. We have assembled quite a youthful squad which we believe can compete in the league.”

Rhinos will begin their 2013 campaign with a tricky fixture against last year’s Mbada Diamonds finalists Monomotapa.

DeMbare is still smarting from the 3-0 humbling they got from Tunisian side Club Athletic Bizertin in the African Champions League last week.

Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa will be using today’s match to fine tune his side ahead of their opening match against black Mambas next weekend. - Godknows Matarutse
