DeMbare exposed at set-pieces again
Sunday, 24 March 2013 14:43
HARARE - After watching his team strugge on set-pieces against Black Rhinos yesterday, Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa feels it’s now a cause of concern before their African Champions League return leg against Tunisian side CA Bizertin.

The Glamour Boys were held to a 1-1 draw by a determined Black Rhinos side in a friendly match they could have lost had Chauya Chipembere been clinical in front of goal.

DeMbare were beaten 3-0 by CA Bizertin in the first of the Champions League last week after conceding three second half goals from set-pieces and after yesterday’s draw against Rhinos, Pasuwa feels the players need to up their game if they stand any chance of progressing.

“Black Rhinos had a lot of movement in terms mobility. They had so many chances. We still have problems on those set pieces,” Pasuwa said.

“We played in Tunisia and we conceded two set pieces and a penalty and again today we conceded another free kick. We should have to deal with this so that when we play those guys (CA Bizertin) again we don’t concede such kind of goals.

“I think the problem lies in the mind of the players. When we are defending we should have to attack the ball. Some of the guys will be standing whilst the ball is coming and when playing against those professional sides they capitalise on that.”

During yesterday’s draw, the Glamour Boys were without the services of defenders Partson Jaure, Augustine Mbara and Ocean Mushure who are away to Egypt with the senior national team.

Dynamos went ahead in the 13th minute with a well taken free-kick just outside the box from Rusell Madamombe. Patrick Khumbula had done well to win the free kick beating two defenders before brought down by veteran Brighton Chandisaita.

Chauya Chipembere slowly clawed back into the match and they were duly rewarded in the 38th minute when impressive left back Wilson Chakanyuka stepped to take a free kick just outside the box which gave Artwell Mukandi who was in goals for DeMbare no chance.

The 2013 Premiership gets underway this week and Dynamos will play two matches against Black Mambas and Chicken Inn during the Easter holiday and Pasuwa want to use the games to fine tune his side before their return match against CA Bizrtin the following week. - Godknows Matarutse
