HARARE - The Nigerian and Georgian rugby unions have shown interest in sending their Sevens teams to be part of the action-packed Spar International Sevens tournament set for March in Harare.

The tournament includes Africa’s second-best Sevens team Kenya as well as full international sides from Hong Kong, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.

These teams are joined by South African provincial sides Blue Bulls, Pumas, Buffaloes as well as South Africa Sevens Academy and Zimbabwe’s second string outfit, the Goshawks.

Both sides have indicated that they would travel to Harare for the tournament if the costs involved are within their reach.

Zimbabwe last faced Nigeria in the African regional Sevens World Cup qualification tournament last year with the Cheetahs narrowly beating the West African side 19-14.

Georgia is an emerging rugby nation in Europe which like Zimbabwe, will take part in March’s Hong Kong leg of the IRB World Sevens Series hoping to make an impression in their quest for recognition.
