HARARE - Dynamos captain Murape Murape believes the Glamour Boys have now struck the right chord after picking up their first win of the 2013 season against Tripple B at the weekend.

Former CAPS United striker Washington Pakamisa opened his DeMbare account while defender Partson Jaure sealed the victory with his third goal of the season as the Glamour Boys ran out 0-2 winners at Mandava Stadium.

Pakamisa, who joined the Glamour Boys this year, is one of the seven players that were released by CAPS United following in-house problems over outstanding payments and had struggled for form at DeMbare.

Going into weekend’s match, Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa was under intense pressure from the DeMbare faithful after beginning the season with five straight draws.

But after the weekend’s result, Dynamos jumped five places up the ladder to eighth place on the log standings and Murape is confident the good times have returned to the 19-time Zimbabwean champions.

“It was not an easy game going there and come out with a win,” Murape told Daily News yesterday.

“We were under a lot of pressure because we were pressing for that first win of the season. And we managed to win the game which is a morale boost ahead of our next matches.

“That was the sort of result we needed and I am sure we are going to have a good run again. Obviously in football at some point you go through a bad spell and you have to bounce back.

“People should know that league is a marathon. What we need now is to stay focused so that we can remain champions.”

Dynamos will tomorrow face log leaders FC Platinum in a mid-week fixture and the 2007 Soccer Star of the Year has challenged his teammates to forget about their win against Tripple B and tackle the next hurdle.
“What we need now is consistency so that we stay at a shouting distance with other teams. I think against FC Platinum it’s going to be a good game and it has come on the right time,” he said.

“For us to do well we have to beat those who are on top of us and if we can get the three points against Platinum then it means we are getting closer.

“It’s not going to be an easy match for us. They are a good side with good players and they will obviously want to consolidate their lead but we are champions and we will have to show character.

“One good thing is that the win against Tripple B has brought confidence back to most of the guys and everyone is motivated.

“We need to keep our feet on the ground and stay focused. Our win is now history and we are looking forward to a good result against Platinum.” - Godknows Matarutse
