HARARE - Rivals Dynamos and Highlanders have been given an extra incentive ahead of their potential title decider on Sunday after BancABC, which sponsors both clubs, tabled a $15 000 winner-take-all carrot.
 
Zimbabwe’s most popular clubs, that are engaged in a fiery tussle for the Castle Premiership title, meet in a game that could determine the destiny of this year’s championship.

BancABC Zimbabwe managing director Hashmon Matemera yesterday revealed a number of incentives lined up for the game during a press conference attended by representatives of the two clubs.

“We are the sponsors of Highlanders and Dynamos so we thought we could do something to make it an entertaining day for the fans,” said Matemera.

“We are offering a winning prize for the match, $15 000 winner-take-all. Whichever team scores a goal within the first five minutes, we will give them $5 000.”

The regional banking institution, which this year deferred the BancABC Sup8r Cup, has availed a range of incentives for both the players and fans expected to ratchet up the competitive spirit during Zimbabwean football’s most-awaited match this season.

“We will offer $3 000 to the teams for each goal scored while the man-of-the-match will walk away with $1 500.

“The teams will play in new kits,” said Matemera.

To boost spectator value, the regional banking group will sponsor a curtain raiser match involving Bosso and DeMbare legends.

The former stars will each be paid a $100 appearance fee.

The bank will also accommodate and transport the legends.

Fans, will be entertained by Suluman Chimbetu,Winky D, Iyasa and Tedias Matsito — stand to  walk away with prizes that include DStv decoders , team regalia and fuel coupons.

Meanwhile, the banking group has refuted claims that its sponsorship of the Bosso-DeMbare match was a way of creating a BancABC Sup8r Cup final by default.

“Even if we had the Sup8r, this would still have happened. There were various issues to be resolved around the Sup8r.”
