Kutyauripo gathers himself after Dynamos snub
Tuesday, 16 April 2013 14:43
HARARE - David Kutyauripo has not let his snub by Dynamos affect his focus on playing football.

The fullback seems to be enjoying his football at Harare City, the club he joined after being transfer-listed by the Castle Premiership champions at the end of last season.

Kutyauripo had two assists in City’s 4-0 drubbing of Motor Action a fortnight ago.

This Sunday, the right-back was at hand again when he whipped in a pin-point cross that was headed home by Osborne Mukuradare in the Sunshine Boys’ one-all draw with Black Rhinos at Gwanzura Stadium.

The experienced fullback took over the show with some intelligent shielding and hold-up play.

The former Circle United, Njube Sundowns and CAPS United man’s ability to overlap has given him an edge over many Premiership fullbacks playing in the same position. He is also not afraid to take a crack at goal.

Despite assisting on the attacking end, Kutyauripo also made a number of telling blocks to keep Harare City in the game on Sunday.

After the breather, Rhinos began controlling the game following the introduction of Lazurus Muhoni and Martin Mine, but they found the defence, well marshalled by Kutyauripo, resolute.

Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi believes Kutyauripo is reaping the rewards for extra hours at the training ground and in the gym.

“Kutyauripo is one of the most hardworking players at our club,” Mawiwi said. “He is still learning because our system of play is very different from his former team.

“He is working hard and we have not had any problems with him discipline-wise. As a club, we are very strict when it comes to discipline matters. I think he is ready to prove a lot of critics wrong this season.” - Blessings Mashaya
