HARARE - Motor Action coach Joey Antipas will next month leave for a one-month coaching attachment with German champions Borussia Dortmund and Danish top flight outfit Brondy FC.

The ex-Zimbabwe national team assistant coach will be returning to Europe for the second time in two years following a similar arrangement in 2011, where he had a stint with the Bundesliga giants and VFL Bochum of Denmark.

Antipas, who last year got away with a wholly suspended five-year sentence for his involvement in the Asiagate match-fixing scandal, believes the attachments will equip him with modern coaching trends in football.

“I will be going to Denmark and Germany for a coaching attachment and this will help me enhance my knowledge of the game and mingling with some of the top players in the world,” Antipas told the Daily News yesterday.

“This will also help me learn modern techniques and modern coaching networks of the game. I did the same thing in 2011 and it was a great experience.”

Former Zimbabwe champions Motor Action, who had one of their worst seasons in the Premiership last year, finishing eighth and 28 points behind champions Dynamos, are hoping to benefit immensely from Antipas’ Europe sojourn ahead of the upcoming new season.

Motor Action’s preparations for the 2013 season have got off to a slow start, casting doubt over the club’s future following revelations by club president Eric Rosen two weeks ago that the Harare outfit was looking for sponsorship.

The Mighty Bulls regrouped two weeks ago but several regular players did not report for training, fueling speculation that they are ready to quit the 2010 league champions.

The Mighty Bulls have already lost defender Morris Kadzola to champions Dynamos while defender James Jani and forward Merciful Ncube have reportedly joined Harare City. Midfielder Gift Phiri has signed for CAPS United while out-of-contract Fortune Ncube has been training with Highlanders.

Antipas, however, is not pressing the panic button.
