Hwange, Chicken Inn in stalemate
Monday, 03 September 2012 09:21
HARARE - Veteran Hwange striker Gilbert Zulu scored in injury time to deny visiting Chicken Inn all points in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League yesterday.

Zulu’s last-gasp equaliser, a minute into optional time, cancelled out a 14th minute strike by Chicken Inn’s Lenience Mpofu.

The Bulawayo team started brightly and won a free kick in the opening minutes after Zulu had handled the ball on 22 minutes. Evans Chikwakwai failed to score from the resultant free kick.

The closest the hosts got to get an equaliser in the first half was through their captain Rodwell Chinyengetere, who narrowly missed the target after an Ocean Mpofu free kick four minutes from the half time break.

After the half time, the coalminers continued to play second fiddle to the visitors, who enjoyed more goalmouth action.

The hosts’ equaliser finally came in optional time, much to the relief of the hosts’ supporters.
