HARARE - Struggling Castle Premiership side CAPS United were held to a nil-all draw by Mutare side Buffaloes at Sakubva Stadium here yesterday.

Yesterday’s draw was CAPS coach Taurai Mangwiro’s first set of points since taking over from sacked Northern Irishman Sean Connor five games ago.

As for the former Zimbabwe champions, it was their first point following a seven-game losing streak.
The first scoring chance of the game fell to the home side. Malvern Dumbura put over his effort with the keeper to beat. Themba Ndlovu, the Buffaloes defender, had his chance when he sent wide his effort after an assist from a well-positioned team-mate.

Pride Tafirenyika could have made it one nil for the visitors but the final effort left a lot to be desired on 30 minutes.  

Buffaloes holding midfielder Wayerera Muchineripi’s shot was tipped over the bar from a corner kick in the 38th minute. Prosper Matianadzo’s attempt at goal was intercepted by Rahmann Kutsanzira, whose shot was parried away for a corner kick in the 53rd minute.

CAPS defender Blessing Zabula came close when his effort missed the target by a few inches.

Shingi Kawondera’s introduction in the 65th minute, in place of Clive Kawinga, did not help matters.

The former Warriors striker showed glimpses of brilliance, as he has done so far this season since joining the Green Machine, but his passes found no takers.
