HARARE - Three Zimbabwe cricketers have been shortlisted twice in different categories for Saturday’s Zimbabwe Cricket Player Awards in the capital.

The three — captain Brendan Taylor, batsman Hamilton Masakadza and seamer Brian Vitori — were some of the most outstanding players for Zimbabwe in international cricket in the 2012 calendar year.

Taylor has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year and Batsman of the Year awards, which he both won last year.

The Midwest Rhinos batsman will face stiff competition in both categories from fellow international Hamilton Masakadza, who was on top of his game throughout the season. Vitori was also shortlisted for the Cricketer of the Year category in addition to the Bowler of the Year nomination.

However, conspicuous by his absence from the list is the late Mashonaland Eagles coach Kevin Curran, who won the Coca-Cola Pro 50 Championship last season and finished second in the Logan Cup and Stanbic T20 competitions.
