‘Blue’ Maroto guns for Dynamos
Thursday, 20 September 2012 11:24
HARARE - Motor Action striker Norman Maroto’s blood will always be blue, but this will not deter him from derailing Dynamos’ title challenge when the sides clash in a crucial Castle Premiership tie on Sunday.

Maroto, who burst onto the Premiership scene in 2001 as part of Moses Chunga’s fabled Kidznet project, is focussed on scoring goals for his new paymasters.

“Dynamos will always be home; they gave me so much fame but on Sunday I will be out to help Motor Action win,” said the former Golden Boot winner, who helped Gunners to the league title in 2009.

“My bread is now buttered at Motor Action, so I have a duty to play to the best of my ability for them. Even the most die-hard DeMbare fan will have no hard feelings If I score against their favourite team because they realise I am a professional.”

The Mighty Bulls hitman, however, concedes that beating the defending Zimbabwe champions won’t be easy.

“We are playing the form team, the log leaders, so we really have to work hard to get a good result. Games between the two clubs have over the years been a source of great excitement and competition.

“We lost in the Mbada Diamonds Cup first round to CAPS United in Bindura at the weekend, though we played a good game.  We will maintain a high degree of concentration throughout the match on Sunday.”

The Mighty Bulls, who have won eight games out of 21 games this season, are 20 points adrift of log leaders Dynamos.

“Dynamos are so far ahead of us in the league and I will be very happy if they retain the league title at the end of the season, but on Sunday what will matter to me is to help Motor Action get a result. We have a good team that will give Dynamos a good run. We are a hard working team and I am sure we will be able to play our hearts out to win against an in-form Dynamos team.”
