JOHANNESBURG - South African giants Kaizer Chiefs say Zimbabwe international Knowledge Musona is welcome back at Amakhosi if he decides to return to the Absa Premiership.

The Warriors kingpin — a firm favourite at Chiefs where he achieved stardom before moving to Germany in 2011 — is facing uncertain times after the recent appointment of former German national team defender Stefan Reuter as FC Augsburg sporting director, which could further complicate his career.

Regarding the possible return of Musona from Germany, Chiefs general manager Bobby Motaung said: “I heard the rumour but I doubt if he will be coming back to the PSL any time soon, but if it does happen, he will come to Chiefs. It’s as simple as that.”

Musona will also have the challenge of convincing Reuter that he has the ability to play a key role in the revival of the club.

 After scoring 15 League goals for Kaizer Chiefs during the 2010-11 season, Musona failed to rediscover the same form when he moved to German side 1899 Hoffenheim in July 2011.

The striker was later loaned to FC Augsburg, where he is still to score a goal in 737 minutes of action.

As things stand, Musona no longer commands a regular place in the team’s starting lineup and it remains unclear whether or not he will be in Reuter’s future plans when the Bundesliga resumes on January 19. — Sports Writer/Sowetan
