HARARE - Manicaland Mountaineers completed a convincing eight-wicket Logan Cup win over Midwest Rhinos inside three days yesterday despite Brendan Taylor’s century for the visitors.
Midwest, joint-top on log standings before the match, began the day reeling on 76-5 in their second innings having record 115 in their first innings.
They eventually totalled 242 with Zimbabwe captain Taylor smashing 133 runs from 173 balls, leaving the Mountaineers with a gettable winning target in their first innings.
Pace bowler Donald Tiripano claimed 4-76 for the hosts while seamer Callum Price and spinner Natsai Mushangwe took three and two wickets respectively.
The Mutare franchise then eased home with 100-2, with number three Hamilton Masakadza top-scoring with 47 and Mark Pettini adding 31 runs.
